A cost saving strategy and improvement that can boost the value of the home is new windows.  Some indications that influence the purchase of new windows are: wood frames that are warped, poorly insulated, single pane without storm windows, drafty when the wind blows or ugly windows that would detract from the sale of a home.

There are several types of windows. Most differ in their construction, however a few of the more popular types are: vinyl, vinyl exterior with a stainable wood interior, and more recently fiberglass composite (Cellular), frame windows.

An important finish, generally called 'Low E' (short for low-emissivity), is barely visible but has a reflective quality which eliminates much of the ultraviolet light that can sun damage sofas, paint, and other objects inside the home.  With low-E, close to the same amount of light or brightness comes through the window, but harmful rays are kept out. This coating may also have some of the same effect in winter by acting as an insulative layer - reflecting heat back inside the home.

Most double-pane windows have argon gas that is pressure sealed between the two panes. This gas acts as another insulative layer by reducing the reaction between the outside temperature and the inside temperature. Some windows that are poorly constructed can loose this energy-saving property later in the life of the window.

Looking for windows that are NFRC (National Fenestration Rating Council) certified to help you compare the insulative properties of the windows you intend to buy. Another great source of window efficiency information is EWC (Efficient Windows Collaborative). These organizations help the consumer know the energy efficiency of different windows by providing a standard of measure and certification program for window manufacturers.

Vinyl Windows
It's easy to see why vinyl replacement windows have become one of the most popular home improvements around. They reduce noise and energy use while increasing your property value and enhancing the appearance of your home. They can be installed quickly without major construction headaches and the price is affordable.

  • Low-E glass finish keeps heat in during the winter months and out during the summer months.
  • Available in a variety of styles and finishes, including frames that look like real wood available in finishes to match your home's paint color scheme.
  • Dual-pane windows provide a significant noise barrier that practically eliminate outside sound.

Vinyl Exterior with Wood Interior Windows
This type of window is a beautiful combination of maintenance-free vinyl with natural wood interiors to accentuate your home’s decor.  These windows feature vinyl extrusions in the frame and sash exteriors for improved resistance to water and air filtration.
  • Low-E glass finish keeps heat in during the winter months and out during the summer months.
  • Fusion welded, mitered corner construction provides a more sophisticated look compared to standard vinyl windows.
  • Durable vinyl exterior defies the heat, cold, wind rain and snow.
  • Beautiful wood interior blends seamlessly with your home’s interior.
  • Available in an abundance of custom sizes, shapes, styles accessories and options.

Cellular Windows
The newest innovation in window technology is here. 100% Cellular Composite Material
creates a durable, affordable, maintenance free, attractive alternative to wood windows
without any sacrifices. Cellular material contributes to the window’s strength, creating a hard, dent-resistant surface and stiff, durable construction.  These windows have the real look of wood, and the durability of vinyl.
  • Triple layer insulated Low-E glass blocks 95% of UV rays.
  • Stronger and more energy efficient than vinyl or wood windows.
  • Get the appearance of a traditional wood window without the problems of warping, cracking, peeling, splintering, decaying or rotting.
  • Worry-free 100% cellular composite material outperforms both wood and rigid vinyl in durability and energy efficiency.
